Chart-topping group Toploader, known for their popular hit Dancing in the Moonlight, will stage a special Bank Holiday performance in their Sussex hometown of Eastbourne.

The musicians will take to the stage at the town’s seafront bandstand on May 25, with entertainment commencing at 1.30pm. DJ Fergus will provide a supporting set ahead of the headline act.

Dan Hipgrave, Toploader’s lead guitarist, said Eastbourne holds a special significance for the band and represents the location where they initially cultivated a genuine following. He noted that returning to the bandstand feels like a proper homecoming and expressed enthusiasm about performing by the sea once more.

Toploader has achieved global album sales exceeding two million copies since their formation in Eastbourne in 1997. The group has toured internationally, sharing stages with acts including Coldplay, Robbie Williams and Bon Jovi.

Councillor Jenny Williams, Eastbourne Borough Council’s cabinet member responsible for tourism and place, said the authority is thrilled to welcome Toploader back to the bandstand for what promises to be a memorable Bank Holiday show. She observed that their uplifting tracks are ideally suited to a seafront audience and that their return to the south coast town where their journey began makes this an especially significant homecoming. She added that with DJ Fergus beginning the entertainment, the afternoon should prove enjoyable for both locals and visitors.

Eastbourne Bandstand has been a prominent feature of the seafront since the 1930s and maintains a full schedule of live events throughout the season.

Standard ticket sales will commence at 10am on March 23 via eastbournebandstand.co.uk. Those registered for the venue’s mailing list can obtain tickets from 9am on the same date.
