Brighton beach will host a major homecoming spectacular this summer, with the complete billing now unveiled.
The Maccabees are set to return to the seaside city to top the bill at the annual On The Beach event, with the full roster finally disclosed.
The beloved indie group will take over Brighton’s waterfront on July 25, 2026, for what promises to be one of the season’s standout occasions.
The band reflected on their journey, noting that during their early days performing in the city, they never anticipated that two decades later they would be closing the show at Brighton Beach. They described the prospect of performing outdoors on the beach as deeply meaningful and expressed their commitment to delivering the most memorable Maccabees performance to date, potentially surpassing their legendary Concorde 2 appearance that resulted in a ban after audience members were spotted clinging to the ceiling.
The announced lineup showcases an impressive range of British indie performers such as Editors, Miles Kane, and Anna Calvi.
Established acts like Ash and Badly Drawn Boy feature alongside Brighton’s own Lime Garden, representing the newest generation of the local music scene.
Interest in the event has been substantial, with the Saturday allocation already more than 70 percent claimed.
Five of the seven scheduled dates have completely sold out, encompassing performances by Fatboy Slim, Madness, and Moby.
Remaining tickets will be available through a priority pre-sale for registered users beginning Tuesday, March 31 at 11am.
The headline performance follows The Maccabees’ triumphant 2025 comeback, which included prominent slots at Glastonbury and All Points East festivals.
For the musicians, appearing at the coast symbolises a completion of their circle after honing their craft in the city during their formative years.
Matt Deverson, Managing Editor of Radio X, remarked that amid a year of significant returns, witnessing The Maccabees take to the stage in 2025 proved particularly moving. He expressed that their position as headliners at Brighton’s On The Beach this summer, sharing the bill with an impressive collection of indie music luminaries, represents an essential date for music fans.
Now entering its sixth edition, the gathering has become a reliable feature of the British summer calendar.
Organisers have indicated that this particular show offers fans one of the last chances to experience the event at Brighton’s seafront this year.
The five-member outfit, comprising Felix White, Orlando Weeks, Rupert Jarvis, Hugo White and Sam Doyle, disbanded in 2016 before confirming their reunion in October 2024.
The group previously relocated to Brighton where they crafted their debut record Colour It In and its successor Wall Of Arms within the city.
