Free NHS health checks available in Wealden for 40 to 74 year olds

A mobile health screening service is making a comeback to provide local people with convenient access to vital health services.

The initiative is being run by One You East Sussex with backing from Wealden District Council, providing scheduled NHS health assessments and complimentary wellness guidance from a community outreach vehicle named COLIN.

The programme targets inhabitants between 40 and 74 years old who have not undergone an NHS health check during the previous five years, with each assessment lasting between half an hour and 40 minutes and designed to promote preventive medical care.

The touring service will make stops in Heathfield, Hailsham, Uckfield, Crowborough and Polegate across April and May.

Slots must be reserved in advance and can be arranged by sending an email to hello@oneyoueastsussex.org.uk or telephoning 01323 404600.

Those currently taking medication for blood pressure or cholesterol, individuals with specific chronic conditions, and anyone who has previously experienced a cardiovascular incident are not able to participate.

Kelvin Williams, Alliance for Wealden (Liberal Democrat) and cabinet member responsible for Public Health and Asset Management, stated that free health screenings are being provided once more, emphasising that a thriving community starts with individuals prioritising their own wellbeing. He noted that attending routine examinations even when feeling well helps safeguard personal health, that minor adjustments now can avoid more significant problems later, and that collective action can build a safer, healthier future for everyone.
