New after-dark bus services unveiled in upgrade programme

Published on

Brighton and Hove Buses has revealed plans to boost its after-dark bus network with extra routes and service improvements.

The operator is introducing two brand-new night services, numbered N29 and N48, which will run alongside the existing N1, N5, N7, N12, N14 and N25 lines. The current N1 route will also be extended.

The N29 will be a new limited-stop night service running hourly each evening between Brighton Royal Pavilion and Lewes town centre via Lewes Road. The new route has been developed together with East Sussex County Council.

The fresh N48 service will operate hourly throughout the night between Brighton Royal Pavilion and East Moulsecoomb and Lower Bevendean, travelling via London Road shops and Lewes Road.

The revamped N1 night service will now run hourly every night, with its route extended to cover Whitehawk and Woodingdean via Eastern Road and Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Nick Hill, commercial director at Brighton and Hove Buses, explained that the company’s night services deliver essential connections enabling local communities to remain connected at all times, around the clock every day of the week. He expressed enthusiasm about launching these additional services and route improvements that further strengthen night-time links and offer new 24-hour travel possibilities to Whitehawk, Woodingdean, East Moulsecoomb, Lower Bevendean, Royal Sussex County Hospital and Lewes.
