Local residents have been urged to properly secure trampolines after one was blown onto a busy road during gusty weather.

The incident happened on March 26 when the play equipment was carried by powerful winds onto the A259 Buckle By-Pass in Seaford, creating a hazard for vehicles passing through the area.

Lewes Police shared the image and reminded people to tie down any temporary objects in their outdoor spaces.

A Lewes Police representative said checking that items like trampolines are properly anchored before setting off might be advisable given the recent windy conditions.

They added that when garden belongings end up on roads or pathways, they can become dangerous obstacles for drivers, cyclists, and walkers. Spending a moment to secure them could prevent collisions and safeguard public safety.

The alert drew reactions from community members on social media.

Marie Jane posted that it flew across the carriageway directly ahead of her and narrowly missed several cars. She expressed surprise that no crash occurred.
