Brighton culinary expert celebrates lottery windfall

Published on

A former kitchen worker from the seaside town of Brighton enjoyed an unexpected turn of fortune as the year came to a close.

The ex-cook secured a £1 million windfall in the National Lottery’s Lotto draw on December 31, 2025. He achieved this by matching five main numbers along with the bonus ball, resulting in a seven-figure sum.

The lucky winner elected to stay anonymous but revealed that the win has completely changed his life.

He stated that he is thrilled to finally be able to do something special for his family.

His first priorities include covering the costs of his daughter’s honeymoon as a wedding gift. He is also thinking about purchasing new lounge furnishings and possibly giving his kitchen a makeover.

Andy Carter, a senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, the company behind The National Lottery, remarked that this is fantastic news for their winner, and particularly for his daughter. They send their warmest congratulations to him and the newlyweds.

The Brighton local has already successfully received his payment. Meanwhile, another National Lottery participant has yet to come forward to claim a significant prize totalling £10.6 million.

The winning ticket was purchased in the London Borough of Bexley. The winning numbers remain unclaimed, with the deadline for claiming them approaching rapidly.

The prize was won in the Lotto draw on October 4, 2025. One ticket holder matched all six main numbers: 6, 8, 12, 33, 49, and 59.

The total prize value reaches £10,633,323.

The claimant must retrieve their winnings before 11:59pm on Thursday, April 2. Should the prize remain uncollected by that time, the full amount will be allocated to National Lottery Good Causes.

Players are advised to check their tickets quickly using the National Lottery’s mobile application, official website, or by visiting a retailer. Those buying tickets digitally get automatic email alerts about any prizes. Paper tickets can be checked by scanning the barcode via the mobile app.

For the Brighton winner, New Year’s Eve brought a surprising and welcome start to 2026. For a ticket holder in Bexley, the clock is ticking.
