The new big-screen adaptation of The Magic Faraway Tree hit theaters recently, and Prezzo Italian marked the occasion with a special dessert creation. I visited the Brighton Marina location to sample it firsthand.
During the 1980s, I often returned from the corner shop clutching Shoot magazine alongside a packet of those new fizzy, popping confectioneries. The experience resembled something pulled from Roald Dahl’s famous story. I’d tear open the corner, pour the lightweight treats onto my palm, and toss them into my mouth.
What exactly was this peculiar candy, suddenly awakening with popping and fizzing sensations the moment it entered my mouth? It created quite an extraordinary experience—both audible and physical as it crackled and popped internally.
I’d likely rush home to share the discovery with my siblings in time for Going Live and Football Focus, then we’d head out on our BMX bikes toward the beach or gather with friends for a kickabout.
These fond recollections came flooding back while sampling the Fizz Pops at Prezzo. The dish features miniature doughnut balls filled with custard, encased in white chocolate, adorned with chocolate pearls, and accompanied by chocolate sauce along with Fizz Wizz popping candy described as delivering “a little burst of magic in every bite.” While marketed toward younger guests, I thoroughly enjoyed the nostalgic journey it provided.
Young diners receive activity sheets to encourage creative thinking and keep them occupied while waiting for their meals.
The children’s menu provides two courses priced at £8.50.
Prezzo has also introduced the Kids Eat Free Forever program. Subscribing to the Prezzo Italian app costs £1.99 monthly, granting up to three complimentary three-course children’s meals with each visit. The promotion may be redeemed once daily.
Each child also receives a grow-your-own tomato kit to continue gardening at home.
Families can additionally enter for an opportunity to win a “Magical Family Adventure in the Forest of Dean.” These promotions are available at Prezzo Italian locations throughout the country until April 19th.
If you visit, I’d also suggest trying their pizzas. I promised myself I’d return after skipping pizza on my previous occasion. The crusts are pleasantly light. I particularly enjoyed The Spicy One featuring ‘nduja, pepperoni, tomato sauce and mozzarella, topped with red chillies and finished with a honey drizzle.
