A man has published a book about his 45-year love story with his wife, who he met in a school corridor.

Brian Sanderson, 60, lived in Brighton until he was 13, when he emigrated to Cyprus.

During his time in the city, he attended Bevendean Primary School and Dorothy Stringer.

He returned to the UK in 1981, moving to Devon where he met his partner Karen at the age of 15.

He asked her on a date on February 5, 1982.

Mr Sanderson, who is the father of three children, said: “I met her the first time in a school corridor in Honiton Community College.

“I asked her out about a month later and pretty much knew from then on that she was the one.”

The book, which took five months to write, also details how he met his dad for the first time on board a Brighton bus at the age of 11, which his father was driving.

He said the book, Still Fate Still Us, “explores all the ups and downs” of life, as well as what it means to be a father.

“I always wanted to be a dad that was there,” he said, “I wanted stability for them.”

He said the title was inspired by the fact there was “a lot of fate” involved in his love story, including the fact that he “chose to go back a year” at school when he returned from Saudi Arabia, leading to him meeting his wife.

The book is written under the pseudonym Blake Sanderson, with the name “Blake” formed from the initials of his wife and children.

“It’s a bit of a legacy for them,” Mr Sanderson said.
