Villagers baffled as young goat casually strolls down country road

Published on

A young male goat discovered wandering alone along a major roadway has prompted local concern and numerous offers of assistance.

The creature, estimated to be roughly two to three weeks old, was observed travelling unaccompanied near Blackboys in East Sussex.

Kind-hearted members of the public safely transported it to the Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare.

A representative for the organisation stated through social media that despite exhaustive efforts to locate its owner, these proved unsuccessful, so the young animal is now receiving care at their establishment and appears especially calm and content.

Should this animal belong to you, please call 01825 880468.

Please share this information widely to help this baby goat locate its family.

Some platform users expressed objections about reuniting the animal with any potential owner.

Indira Rose Ommani responded that it should live at a rescue sanctuary with other goats where it can fully enjoy life.

Theresa Toms wrote that she genuinely believes it will flourish remaining with them.

Tracy Field noted that the lovely little kid appears exhausted.

The online response showed a blend of relief and concern for the juvenile animal.

Sadie Watkins described the small creature as looking tired and distressed about being separated from its mother.

Other people came forward to offer either temporary or permanent homes.

Sue Wallis offered that she lives locally and could take it in temporarily while the owner is sought. She has the required milk and feeding equipment.

Alice Olivia Page stated that if it needs a home, she would be delighted to provide one, though she does hope it gets reunited with its family.

Additional social media users recommended exercising caution given multiple ownership claims.

Sarah Plant wrote that it was fortunate the poor wandering animal was under responsible supervision until the owner could be found.

Victoria Cadogan-Rawlinson urged that it be looked after properly and that if anyone claims ownership, they should be required to provide proof. She also praised those who rescued the creature.

The ABC animal sanctuary in West Chiltington was suggested as another possible safe environment for the young goat.

The Ringmer-based charity currently caring for the kid supports more than 2,000 vulnerable creatures annually through the dedication of staff, volunteers, and supporters.
