Nick Cave Returns Home: Brighton Concert Lineup Announced

Published on

Full details of Nick Cave’s homecoming concert have been announced.

The Australian musician and his band will be the main act at Preston Park on July 31, marking their sole UK show this year.

The event, which has sold out, marks Cave’s return to the seaside city where he spent more than two decades living, being promoted as his homecoming.

On Tuesday April 15, the complete lineup of supporting performers for the event was confirmed.

Joining the lineup are The Flaming Lips, English Teacher, Cate Le Bon and Warmduscher.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will perform songs from across their entire career spanning four decades, including material from their latest album Wild God.

In September, numerous admirers waited outside the Resident record shop on Kensington Gardens in Brighton to purchase tickets in person.

Regarding his return to Brighton, Cave expressed that he was thrilled beyond words to return to his beloved Brighton with The Bad Seeds to play Preston Park, describing it as a homecoming that would be big, bad and beautiful, and an epic show.

The Australian performer is famous for his work with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, with well-known songs including Into My Arms, The Mercy Seat and Red Right Hand.

Cave and his family had previously resided in Brighton prior to the death of his son Arthur in 2015.

Cave explained that he and his family departed Brighton because living so close to the location where their son died caused them to be triggered too much.

The musician acknowledged that his self-indulgence fell apart after losing Arthur, who was 15 years old.

Arthur died after falling from cliffs in Ovingdean having taken LSD for the first time.

In February 2023, his five-story Brighton residence sold for £2.9 million.

The Grade I listed townhouse owned by Nick Cave and his fashion designer wife Susie Bick, situated on Lewes Crescent in Brighton, had been advertised for £3.25 million.

The property was purchased by the Australian singer-songwriter in 2002 for £165,000.
