A primary school is facing closure.
Brighton and Hove City Council has released a statutory notice proposing the closure of Middle Street Primary School.
If the decision is approved, the school will shut on August 31, 2026.

The proposal states all pupils will be offered a place in local schools for September 2026.
Middle Street Primary is a community primary school, and as of February 2026, 71 children were on roll who are aged 4 to 11.

Within four weeks from the date of publication of this proposal any person may object to or make comments on the proposal.
Feedback can be submitted via the council’s consultation portal by 5pm on May 5, 2026.
