A children’s hospice providing specialist care to young people with serious illnesses has received a donation approaching £10,000 following two years of fundraising efforts by a local attraction.

Knockhatch Adventure Park presented £9,560 to Chestnut Tree House at the unveiling of their newly opened Blackbeard’s Adventure play zone.

The total was gathered across 24 months via dedicated charitable days and proceeds from admission tickets.

Colin Jaggers, managing director at Knockhatch Adventure Park, explained that after touring Chestnut Tree House a few years ago and witnessing the young people at the hospice, they made the decision to provide ongoing support. He said they were delighted to have collected such a significant sum to help fund their vital work.

Chestnut Tree House offers care to children diagnosed with life-limiting conditions across Sussex, and the funds will be used to preserve important support services for families.

Sue Harris, community fundraiser at Chestnut Tree House, said this contribution allows the organisation to continue looking after children in Sussex both presently and for years to come. She noted that supporting families through these difficult times is central to their purpose, and they are extremely grateful to all who took part.

The fundraising campaign also received backing from the Sussex Cosplay Alliance and Vaders Raiders, who regularly volunteer their time at the venue’s biannual charitable events.
