Brazilian dance festival to bring rhythm and colour to seafront

A Brazilian dance festival is set to bring music and movement to the seafront in 2026.

Forró À Beira Mar will take place in Brighton from July 16 to 19, offering four days of workshops, live music and social dancing inspired by forró – a traditional partner dance from northeast Brazil known for its infectious rhythms and inclusive spirit.

The festival is organised by Forró By The Sea, a growing dance community in Brighton created by health and wellness practitioner Jules Francis and her Brazilian partner, Adenilson Papini.

Jules Francis said: “We wanted to create something that brings people together in a really genuine way.

“Forró has this incredible ability to connect people instantly, whether you’ve danced before or not.

“It’s about joy, music and sharing a special moment with someone.”

Daytime workshops will be led by international teachers from Brazil and across Europe, catering to all experience levels from complete beginners to seasoned dancers.

Evenings will feature live bands, DJs and social dancing that continues late into the night.

A highlight of the programme will be a family-friendly outdoor event on Saturday afternoon, including Brazilian food stalls, live music and an easy-going, welcoming vibe.

More details and tickets can be found at forrobythesea.co.uk.

Much of the festival will take place outdoors, including at Brighton’s iconic bandstand, blending the flavour of Brazilian culture with the character of the city.

A range of ticket options are available.

These include full festival passes, single-day tickets and party-only options.
