A fire broke out this morning at a residential property.

The fire took hold at a house at Warrenside, South Harting in West Sussex, on the morning of April 19.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service tweeted about the incident at 11.23am, writing: “We are responding to a fire at Warrenside, South Harting.

“Please avoid the area to allow firefighters to work safely and local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.”

Two hours later, the fire service then provided the following update: “The fire has been controlled and we are now leaving the scene.

“Thank you for your cooperation.”

The exact nature and cause of the fire are not yet known. The Argus has contacted West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service for further details.

Images from the scene appear to show the worse damage in the upper storey of the property, with damage visible to the roof, and an upper window completely burnt out.

Multiple fire engines attended the incident. It appears that fire services were able to stop the fire from spreading to neighbouring properties, with damage seemingly confined to the original home.
