A consultant surgeon is preparing to cycle 1,000 miles across Italy.
Rob Frymann, who works with West Sussex Urology and University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, will set off on Monday, April 20, alongside friends Tom, Martin and Graeme as part of a charity challenge from Verona to Gallipoli.
The 1,000-mile journey will take just two weeks to complete, with the group cycling through Bologna, Florence, Siena and Rome and over the Apennine mountains before reaching Puglia in southern Italy.
Mr Frymann said: “This is a real test, but it’s also a fantastic opportunity to raise money for cancer research.
“In my work, I see first-hand the impact cancer has on patients and their families, so supporting this cause means a great deal.”
A consultant urological surgeon, he regularly treats patients with urological cancers.

The connection between his professional work and the fundraising makes the cause especially meaningful to him.
This ride is the second stage of a longer journey, following a previous leg completed in 2019.
Members of the public are encouraged to donate via Mr Frymann’s JustGiving page at justgiving.com/page/rob-frymann-2?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=WA.
The route will take the team across the plains of northern Italy, through the Tuscan hills and onto the renowned Strade Bianche gravel roads.
Mr Frymann said: “Memories will be made, punctures will be repaired and a lot of carb loading will be required.”
The group aims to raise a minimum of £500 for Cancer Research UK, supporting ongoing research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
