Arrest as political activist stages ‘abortion debate’ near university

Published on

A person was arrested as a political activist held an “abortion debate” at a university.

Young Bob, who describes himself as a “Christian Pro-life Remigration activist”, set up a “debate stand” outside the University of Sussex today, April 22.

A sign which read “abortion should be completely banned, change my mind” was attached to the table.

Jake, a University of Sussex student who gave only his first name, told The Argus that people protested against Young Bob’s debate stand.

He said: “The students at our university are saying we do not accept his views.”

Sussex Police reported that a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence at the University of Sussex in connection with the protest.

A spokesman for the force said: “We’d like to reassure the community that police were present to facilitate a peaceful protest; anyone committing any offences will be dealt with accordingly.”

On X, formerly Twitter, Young Bob – who is 17, according to his profile – shared a picture of himself at the table with people holding a sign which reads “fascists off our campus” in the background.

“Fascists off our campus.” Well, today has been very eventful outside Sussex University and Brighton University, debating abortion. Ridiculous that people are protesting a debate stand. pic.twitter.com/uECGsyZefl
