Brighton man gets large tattoo of city sign while on holiday

A 27-year-old man with two children who calls himself Brighton’s Godfather has had his hometown’s welcome sign permanently inked onto his back.

Tyler Mighall, who works in waste management, initially had the words Godfather of Brighton tattooed during a difficult period in his life.

During a recent trip to Turkey with his family, he added another piece to his collection – a large Welcome to Brighton and Hove design spanning his entire back, which he posted on social media on April 19.

This latest addition forms part of his plan to transform his back into a tribute to his love for Brighton and Hove, with future ideas including the i360 tower and possibly The Argus newspaper logo.

According to Mighall, he is a Brighton native, and while some people have mixed feelings about their hometown, he loves Brighton. He added that in his younger years, he used to dislike Brighton and found it dull, but after traveling around the world, he has come to appreciate the city for what it offers.

Tyler, who has other tattoos, admitted that his initial Brighton-themed piece was done on impulse. He got the Godfather of Brighton tattoo last year, and he acknowledges it was somewhat foolish.

Instead of having it removed, he decided to fully embrace the design. He explained that he had the choice between getting it extensively covered or committing to it, and he is not really someone who opts for extensive cover-ups.

The most recent tattoo, completed at Poseidon Ink in Turkey, took three hours because of its size and color scheme. According to him, it was extremely painful, and he should probably stop choosing such bold colors since they hurt significantly. He also joked that he enjoys pain.
