Children’s hospice receives £3,000 to fund care services

A children’s care centre has obtained extra funding to continue supporting young patients and their relatives.

Chestnut Tree House near Arundel helps around 300 children yearly across Sussex and South East Hampshire, offering expert care at the hospice and in domestic settings.

The charity received £3,000 from David Wilson Homes Southern, which will allow it to carry on assisting children and families facing life-limiting medical conditions.

Hannah Seltzer, head of corporate partnerships at Chestnut Tree House, mentioned that each year they look after roughly 300 children and teenagers, either at the hospice building or in their own households.

The centre provides multiple facilities and activities designed to help children enjoy life to the full, including a multi-sensory space, specialised equipment allowing wheelchair users to bounce, and a zone dedicated to musical experiences.

The charity’s services also include bereavement guidance, counselling, and remembrance ceremonies for families after a child’s death.

Running the hospice costs almost £9 million yearly, with NHS public health funding making up less than ten percent of the overall budget.

Mr Gregg said they were pleased to support such a worthwhile cause and hoped the hospice would be able to keep offering its full spectrum of essential services.
