A primary school has been shortlisted for two national teaching awards.
Ark Castledown Primary Academy in Hastings is in the running for honours at the Pearson National Teaching Awards, which celebrate outstanding contributions in education.
The school is a finalist in the Making a Difference – Primary School of the Year category and teacher Hannah Franklin-Paines is shortlisted for Teacher of the Year in a Primary School.
Rebecca Stewart, headteacher at Ark Castledown, said: “We are incredibly proud to be nominated for two Pearson National Teaching Awards.
“It means so much to be recognised for the impact we have as a school, and to see one of our exceptional teachers celebrated at a national level.

“It’s a real reflection of the passion and commitment our team brings every day.”
The school was described by Ofsted inspectors as having a “highly inclusive culture for all pupils” and was judged to be of a “strong standard” in six other assessment areas.
Earlier this year, it was rated “exceptional” for inclusion.
Pearson’s awards are often referred to as the “Oscars of the teaching profession” and highlight excellence in teaching, leadership and support across the UK.
Judging for this year’s awards is set to take place next month.
