An RNLI crew carried out a rescue at Brighton Marina on Sunday 19 April, bringing a fisherman to shore after he entered the water.

The volunteer team reported locating the man and removing him from the sea safely.

This incident was the second callout the lifeboat crew responded to that day, having earlier assisted police officers who were searching for a child reported missing.

In a post on social media, the team explained that volunteers had faced a busy Sunday with two separate incidents along the Brighton coast.

They described how their first task involved supporting authorities with a beach search after concerns were raised about someone’s welfare. Fortunately, that situation was resolved without the need for their team to take action.

Later, the lifeboat was dispatched to the Marina after reports of a person in the water. The fisherman who had gone into the sea was quickly found, pulled out and given medical treatment by crew members before being taken to safety.

The team expressed gratitude for the cooperation received from all emergency services during both incidents.

They advised anyone who sees someone struggling at the coast to dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
