A treasured seasonal favorite is set to arrive in the city as an orchestral live performance event.
The Muppet Christmas Carol will be presented with full orchestral accompaniment at Brighton Centre on December 13, marking one stop on a nationwide UK tour.
Spanning November through December, the production will visit 15 locations throughout the United Kingdom, giving audiences the opportunity to witness the beloved holiday film while musicians play the original musical score in real time.
Tickets for the performance become available on Friday, April 24, at 10am, and can be purchased through ticketmaster.co.uk or disneytickets.co.uk.
The original musical score was written by Miles Goodman, whose credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Little Shop of Horrors, and incorporates songs by Paul Williams, an award-winning composer who has received Oscars, Emmys and Grammys and is known for works such as Rainbow Connection and Evergreen.
The film features The Muppets reimagining Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog portraying Bob Cratchit, the employee of the penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooge, portrayed by Michael Caine.
Gonzo assumes the role of Dickens as narrator, with Rizzo the Rat providing accompaniment.
Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Robin the Frog appear as Emily Cratchit, Fozziwig and Tiny Tim respectively.
The narrative follows Scrooge through Christmas Eve encounters with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, which prompt him to abandon his selfish ways.
Despite seeming beyond reform, Scrooge’s interactions with Bob Cratchit’s family and the spectral visitors lead him to discover the genuine spirit of Christmas.
