Sussex households set to receive full-fibre internet upgrade

Published on

A sweeping broadband overhaul will bring full-fibre connectivity to thousands of residences across Sussex following a substantial funding commitment from network operator nexfibre.

The company has pledged in excess of £5 million to install full-fibre infrastructure serving households and enterprises throughout the Adur and Mid Sussex council areas.

Of this sum, £2.3 million will be directed toward Adur, where as many as 14,000 dwellings stand to gain access, while Mid Sussex receives £3 million to connect a further 19,000 properties, bringing the combined total to approximately 33,000 premises.

The programme promises enhanced speed and dependability for internet users and addresses long-term digital requirements throughout both districts, including properties presently reliant on Virgin Media’s O2 service.

All broadband providers will be permitted to utilise the newly constructed full-fibre network, granting consumers an expanded range of service options.

Rajiv Datta, nexfibre’s chief executive, stated that the organisation remains dedicated to furnishing high-standard connectivity throughout the nation. High-speed full-fibre networks serve as an essential catalyst for economic expansion, and the company’s investment in these Sussex districts will facilitate superior access to education, employment, and prospects capable of reshaping lives and elevating whole neighbourhoods.

The announcement follows nexfibre’s purchase of fellow telecoms firm Netomnia during the current year, a transaction set to release £3.5 billion in economic investment across Britain.

The operator’s existing network reaches beyond 2.6 million premises nationwide, with the merged full-fibre infrastructure projected to extend to approximately 8 million premises by the close of 2027.
