A performing arts centre is set for a major upgrade.
Ropetackle Arts Centre has been awarded a £371,000 grant from Arts Council England, following a joint application with Adur and Worthing Councils.
The funding will support a wide-ranging refurbishment project to modernise the venue.
The announcement was made by Arts Council England, which named the council as the official recipient.
However, the funding is designated solely for the Ropetackle project.
Martin Allen, chairman of Ropetackle, said: “Having just celebrated our 18th anniversary, the extensive improvements we have planned will pave the way for the next era of our rewarding and successful journey.
“I would like to thank the council for working closely with us in the partnership bid.”

With additional investment from Ropetackle, the total value of the upgrade will exceed £500,000.
The centre is planning a comprehensive upgrade of its auditorium, including increasing capacity.
The foyer, box office and Rose Petal Café will also be refurbished and additional office space will be created for staff.
Mr Allen said: “Securing this Arts Council funding is a major achievement, especially given the level of competition, and reflects Ropetackle’s strong position within the arts and cultural sector.
“A huge amount of work went into preparing the bid, and it was very much a team effort.
“Special thanks go to our Centre Manager, Lorna Price, whose work on the details was absolutely outstanding.”
The improvements aim to enhance Ropetackle’s facilities for artists, audiences and the wider community.
