Fake beach hut scam targets unsuspecting beach visitors this summer

Published on

A caution has been raised about fraudulent beach hut advertisements.

The charity Arun and Chichester District Citizens Advice released this warning after receiving reports about questionable listings.

In a post on social media platforms, the organization confirmed that while these deceptive listings have not yet appeared in the Sussex area, members of the public should remain watchful.

The statement continued: Prospective purchasers should remain cautious and flag any dubious advertisements to authorities and the fraud reporting service.

Purchases should only be made through recognized agents or established beach hut organizations.

The fundamental principle applies: if an offer seems impossibly attractive, it likely conceals a deception.

Arun & Chichester Citizens Advice operates as a standalone charitable organization and holds membership in the National Association of Citizens Advice.

Beach hut prices fluctuate based on dimensions, state of repair, and specific location, though they frequently surpass the £15,000 mark.
