A golf club is set to host a charity weekend inspired by their captain’s personal connection.
The Seaford Golf Club is gearing up for its Captain’s Charity Weekend, scheduled from June 19 to 21.
Raising both funds and awareness for mental health support, the event is in aid of MIND.
Paul Johnson, the club’s captain, chose MIND as his charity for his captaincy year, which runs from February 2026 to February 2027.
His decision was influenced by his daughter, Anneka Johnson, who has had her own mental health struggles and sought help from MIND in 2021.
Since then, the organisation has played an important role in helping her navigate daily life.
The start of his captaincy in February 2026 was marked by a golf weekend, featuring two representatives from MIND’s head office.
One of the representatives, a doctor, shared insights into MIND’s work in helping people with mental health issues.
Anneka also shared her personal story during the event, explaining the significance of MIND’s support in her life.
Since then, Anneka and her best friend, Mollie Eager, have been actively involved in organising events, fundraising activities and supporting golf days throughout the year.

Their efforts have already raised more than £6,000 for MIND since February 2026.
On April 26, Anneka and Mollie will be doing a 12,000-foot skydive, raising over £2,000, with Morrisons providing match funding.
The Captain’s Charity Weekend is set to be the highlight of the fundraising calendar, featuring a family-friendly carnival on Saturday, June 20.
The carnival, open to all members, social members and their families, will have games, live entertainment and various surprises.
Local businesses have also shown support by sponsoring the event or donating raffle and auction prizes.
All proceeds from the weekend will go to MIND, supporting their work in providing resources, guidance and support for those facing mental health challenges.
The event aims to raise funds, start conversations about mental health and encourage those in need to seek support.
The organisers are welcoming further support from individuals and businesses interested in sponsoring the event or donating prizes for raffles and auctions.
