A new collection of nature-themed, immersive events is coming to Hove next month.
The Old Market has partnered with Brighton Festival to present Of Land, Sea and Sky, a twenty-one-day programme running from May 2 to May 23.
The events seek to rebuild links between visitors and the natural environment through multi-sensory and immersive experiences, including live shows, film screenings, talks and interactive installations.
Helen Jewell, creative director at The Old Market, said the event marks a genuinely important moment for the venue, and the team feels deeply honoured to be presenting it as part of Brighton Festival. She noted that in recent years, the organisation has been exploring how immersive experiences can bring audiences closer not only to artistic expression but also to the surrounding environment. This season transforms the spaces to help people rediscover the natural environments that define human existence, from the earth beneath our feet to the ocean shaping the coastline and the sky above.

The programme kicks off with a launch event on May 2, spotlighting Brighton DJ Changing Currents as the main attraction, known for his viral mash-up tracks and energetic live performances.
From May 6 to 9, guests can experience Sounds of the Ocean, an award-winning immersive installation featuring 360-degree ocean visuals, live ambient percussion and high-definition recordings of whales and dolphins captured in the deep waters off northern California.
A special Seeds of Hope evening takes place on May 8, beginning with talks from six climate campaigners before transitioning into a DJ performance from Brighton-based artist and environmental activist Nico de Transilvania.
On May 12, the Kendal Mountain Tour returns for an evening of adventure cinema and conversations, with local speakers sharing stories of exploration and humanity’s bond with nature.
Between May 19 and 23, TAKKUUK, a 360-degree audiovisual work by electronic duo BICEP, explores indigenous culture and climate change in the Arctic.
Werkha brings Saturama to the venue on May 22, an immersive journey through Britain’s temperate rainforests using sound, live musical performance and cinematic imagery.
Short sound bath sessions will also be available throughout the programme, offering chances for calm reflection with nature-themed visuals and audio.
