A runner has taken on his biggest-ever endurance challenge in support of a cause close to his heart.
Brighton-based fundraiser Tom Brain completed seven marathons in seven days, beginning on April 20, to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Mr Brain, who has already completed three marathons and four ultramarathons, said: “Alzheimer’s Society does incredible work supporting those living with dementia and their families.
“It’s a cause that is incredibly close to my heart with both my grandparents living with the disease.”
He covered a total of 295 kilometres over the week, running along the Brighton and Hove seafront, Madeira Drive and the undercliff, with routes adjusted for weather conditions.

Mr Brain said: “Running nearly 300 kilometres in a week is going to be tough but it’s a challenge that I am ready to get stuck into, quite frankly I’m chomping at the bit.”

He said his running journey began after a health wake-up call upon returning to Brighton.
Mr Brain said: “I joined a gym, had no idea what I was doing, so jumped on the treadmill. I lasted two minutes.”
“Gasping for air I thought to myself, I’m going to sign up for a 10km.
