The sunny conditions seem to bring happiness to everyone except me.
The problem lies in the volume of their celebrations. My home sits just a short walk from the coastline, yet on countless afternoons and most evenings, festivities are taking place somewhere nearby.
I trust they are having a good time, yet the sound levels are so extreme that even with ear protection and construction-style earmuffs, the deep rhythmic pulses continue to reach me.
The previous day I visited my garden plot only to discover revelry underway at Hove Park.
Their enjoyment was evident, but the sound carried across what appeared to be considerable distances to reach me at my allotment.
Additionally, my broadband connection fails whenever large numbers of visitors gather in Brighton, leaving me with online access solely during morning hours throughout the warmer months.
I did attempt to contact authorities about the disturbance from my fixed line, only to be met with a recorded message stating that noise matters fell under council responsibility and that I would be sent a text notification.
Unfortunately, receiving such a message proved impossible as my mobile device had no signal because of the throngs of people.
