Brighton man wins £77,954.20 in EuroMillions, family didn’t believe him at first

A Brighton resident has claimed approximately £77,954 from a recent lottery draw after matching five main numbers in the EuroMillions game on Friday 17 July 2026.

The anonymous family man, in his forties, regularly plays using direct debit and adds extra funds to his account for additional entries whenever he feels lucky.

He said the win came as a wonderful surprise. His family initially doubted him, since they typically only receive small prizes, but after convincing them, they are all delighted and looking forward to enjoying the summer. He expressed that it feels fantastic to be able to treat everyone while also setting money aside for the future.

The winner intends to celebrate with a family dinner, boost his ISA savings, and make plans for the road ahead.

Abbie Suddick, winners’ advisor at Allwyn, the company running The National Lottery, extended her congratulations on the victory.

Ms Suddick stated that she was thrilled to hear about the Brighton winner’s good fortune. She noted that a small additional entry placed when he was feeling lucky has resulted in an impressive prize of nearly £78,000. She said the team is pleased he can treat his family and plan ahead, and they wish them all a fantastic summer together.

Entries can be purchased online, through the National Lottery app, or from retail stores, with online players receiving automatic notifications of any wins.

This Brighton man follows several other local players who have won major National Lottery prizes this year, including multiple million-pound windfalls in the area.

Approximately £33 million from National Lottery ticket sales goes towards supporting projects and organisations across the UK each week, according to Allwyn. These funds, distributed by independent bodies, support various initiatives including arts and sport, community groups, and the preservation of historic landmarks.

Players must be at least 18 years old to take part and are encouraged to play responsibly.
