Housing development proposals have been put on hold after a committee gathering was called off.

Wealden District Council’s major planning committee had been scheduled to convene on Thursday 19 August to consider two separate applications related to projects in Heathfield and Maresfield.

One scheme proposed the construction of 22 residences on land situated to the south of Burwash Road in Heathfield, while the other involved outline plans for approximately 29 homes on pastureland at Mill House Farm in Maresfield.

Both proposals will now be examined at a future date following the cancellation of the meeting.

The Heathfield submission, put forward by Beech Homes Ltd, had requested full planning consent for a combination of two, three and four-bedroom properties alongside one and two-bedroom apartments.

Of the 22 units proposed, 14 were designated for open-market purchase with the remaining eight offered as affordable accommodation.

The Maresfield scheme, submitted by parties named as Messrs S J, N M, P A and R P Flittner, had sought outline consent, meaning the majority of design specifics would be expected to emerge through a subsequent application.

These same applicants had previously obtained outline permission to construct up to 25 houses on a neighbouring plot. Plans for both Maresfield developments include utilisation of a shared entrance point from London Road.

Wealden planning officers had advised approval for both applications.
