A student from Brighton has secured the top GCSE results across the United Kingdom, according to her educational institution.
Artemis, a pupil at Brighton College who did not share their surname, obtained 14 grade 9 outcomes alongside a higher project qualification – an academic programme focused on independent research and project-based learning abilities.
Artemis completed examinations in biology, chemistry, drama, English language, English literature, French, mathematics, further mathematics, Greek, history, Mandarin, physics, Russian and Spanish.
These results position her as the school’s leading performer this academic year and across the nation, according to a Brighton College spokesperson.
Artemis discovered her results during a vacation in Greece.
She expressed that she was extremely delighted with her outcomes and could hardly accept the reality.
Artemis’s results formed part of several notable successes for the institution, which saw sixty percent of all grades awarded at grade 9.
The college experienced particularly strong performance in mathematics and science, where ninety-four percent of grades reached grade 9 or grade 8.
Head Master Steve Marshall-Taylor observed that what impressed him most about this year group was not merely the exceptional standard of academic accomplishment, but also its range.
He noted that achieving sixty percent of all grades at grade 9 was remarkable, and witnessing pupils attaining those results while competing in sport at national level, excelling in drama and music at the highest standard, producing exceptional artwork and studying eleven different languages made the school even prouder.
The institution also celebrated other students including Oliver, who obtained thirteen grade 9s whilst being part of the Brighton College dance troupe that became All England National Dance Champions merely two weeks prior to results day.
Vova and Lev, two Ukrainian scholars who were granted complimentary places at Brighton College after escaping the conflict in Ukraine, were also celebrating their results.
Having arrived in Brighton speaking minimal English, Vova attained two grade 9s, two grade 8s and one grade 7.
Lev is celebrating two grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s.
Principal Richard Cairns stated that these results beautifully reflect the dedication of the pupils themselves and the teachers who have motivated, pushed and assisted them.
He added that most importantly, the school hoped the pupils felt enthusiastic about what they had discovered and were approaching the future with assurance and eagerness for whatever lies ahead.
