The acclaimed folk artist Steve Tilston is scheduled to appear in Eastbourne during the coming month.

Tilston will take to the stage at the Lamb Folk Club on Wednesday, September 16, continuing his UK tour.

The multi-talented musician will showcase material drawn from his extensive five-and-a-half-decade body of work, featuring selections from his forthcoming farewell collection titled Last Call.

Broadcast presenter Iain Anderson has spoken of Tilston’s standing, describing him as an iconic figure in British folk music, a versatile songwriter with an interpretive gift and a remarkable guitarist, urging audiences to seize the chance to see him perform.

Born in Liverpool and raised in the Midlands, with his current home in Yorkshire, Tilston has earned widespread acknowledgment as one of Britain’s most skilled composers, weaving together folk, blues, jazz and classical elements.

His creative output served as inspiration for the American movie Danny Collins, which starred Al Pacino. The film drew its narrative from a previously undelivered correspondence John Lennon had written to Tilston.

Fellow musician Ralph McTell remarked that when critics evaluate their generation of songwriters and their cultural contribution, Tilston’s output will be positioned among artists far more widely recognised.

Performers who have covered his compositions include Fairport Convention, Dolores Keane and The House Band.

The venue will open its doors at 7.30pm, with the performance beginning at 8pm.

Admission costs £10, collected at the entrance.
