A veteran comic performer is preparing to take to the stage in Sussex later this year.

Harry Enfield will present his solo production Harry Enfield and No Chums at the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne, with performances scheduled throughout October and November.

The 64-year-old entertainer, renowned for memorable characters such as Loadsamoney, Stavros, and the duo Kevin and Perry, will combine classic sketches with personal reflections on his career in comedy.

The upcoming shows mark his first solo live performance since joining forces with long-time creative partner Paul Whitehouse for a touring production in 2015.

Producers from Fane Productions approached the BAFTA-winning comedian about undertaking the solo venture.

Enfield will reveal the real-life inspirations behind his most celebrated character creations during the performance.

The comic confessed to experiencing significant anxiety during his early career when developing characters in clubs, which prompted him to step away from live performance.

His perspective has shifted with age, and he now approaches live shows with considerably more confidence.

The partnership with Whitehouse proved both enjoyable and financially challenging.

Despite creating an elaborate production with extensive costumes and sets, the duo depleted their resources.

Enfield reflected that audiences might have appreciated a more relaxed, conversational approach to their show.

His upcoming solo performance will incorporate newer material, featuring characters from the BBC series Harry and Paul.

Among the characters he holds in highest regard are Wayne and Waynetta Slob, who have become beloved figures in British comedy.

As part of his preparation, Enfield revisited his previous television work, discovering unexpected quality in his past performances.

He found himself pleasantly surprised by the writing and the accuracy of social observations in his old programmes.

The production will run at the Congress Theatre from October 10 until November 30, with a specific performance scheduled for October 14.
