A female driver who drove her car into a residence was found to be over four times the legal alcohol limit.

Sarah Adams inflicted substantial damage to the building during the occurrence in Hastings on April 9.

Officers attended the location and she was subsequently detained, where a breath test was administered.

The reading revealed 148 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The permitted threshold is 35.

Adams, 67 and living on Pett Road in Pett, entered a guilty plea to driving while impaired, and at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on August 5 received a 34-month prohibition from operating vehicles alongside costs of £1,787.

Officers outlined the potential outcomes of drink or drug-related driving:

Causing death or serious harm to yourself or another person;

A minimum 12-month driving ban;

An unlimited financial penalty;

A possible custodial sentence;

A criminal record that could impact current and future employment;

Higher vehicle insurance premiums;

Complications when travelling to nations including the USA.
