The Picturedrome cinema in Bognor has closed its doors without warning, with officers from the local constabulary observed at the location.

A statement posted on the premises in Canada Grove confirms the venue is no longer operating.

This development follows the appearance of multiple police vehicles and a transit van at the site on Monday the 25th of August, as captured in photographs.

The notice affixed to the cinema indicates that the cinema is closed until further notice. The statement includes an apology for any inconvenience caused and instructs patrons with booked tickets to call 01243 981212 and leave a voicemail. It also states that the cinema will contact them shortly and process refunds for their bookings.

A similar announcement has been published on the establishment’s online platform, with the reason for closure cited as circumstances beyond the cinema’s control.

The Picturedrome Cinema traces its origins back to 1885.

The structure, which holds Grade II listed status, contains four separate screens equipped with digital projection technology and Dolby digital surround sound capabilities.
