Parts of the Swan Walk retail complex in Horsham are set to welcome visitors again from next week following an incident where a section of the building’s glass ceiling became dislodged, triggering a closure lasting more than four weeks.

The shopping centre shut its doors on July 13 after a pane from the ceiling structure collapsed into the premises.

Management at Swan Walk had previously announced that protective netting had been commissioned, with installation of this barrier intended to enable safe access to resume.

The netting arrived on August 21, and centre officials confirmed that fitting work commenced at the beginning of this week.

A centre representative stated that the complex would resume operations gradually, with the initial section to become accessible comprising the retail units in the Carfax mall area.

The representative indicated that the netting has been successfully delivered and installation began this week, with work progressing in stages to facilitate a phased reopening.

The first phase is expected next week, covering the Carfax mall and stores from the Carfax entrance extending to the Next and TG Jones area.

Management will provide an exact reopening date for these stores and outline subsequent phases shortly.

The representative expressed gratitude to tenants, employees, shoppers, and town centre collaborators for their patience during the closure, anticipating sharing additional timeline details and announcing a reopening celebration for the first weekend when the entire centre becomes operational.
