A traffic collision on Tuesday resulted in two female occupants of one vehicle sustaining serious injuries.

Emergency crews attended the scene on the A284 Nightingale Way in Littlehampton at approximately 4.50pm on August 26.

According to officers, the incident occurred near the junction with the A259 Worthing Road and included a Ford Transit fitted with a trailer alongside a Honda Jazz.

The 67-year-old woman operating the Honda and an 87-year-old female passenger both suffered severe injuries requiring hospital treatment.

The 66-year-old male driver of the Ford Transit escaped harm.

Authorities have urged anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses relevant footage, including dashboard camera recordings, to contact investigators.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed their response began at 4.57pm to a road traffic collision at Toddington Park in Littlehampton involving a car and a trailer transporting a fairground attraction.

Joint fire control mobilised two fire engines and a heavy rescue tender to the location.

Firefighters employed hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate two casualties from the vehicle.

The injured parties were subsequently transferred to the care of the South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.
