Best Greene King pub in UK gets signage approval in Hove

A popular drinking establishment in Hove has secured permission to install new outdoor signage following a council decision.

The Station, situated at 100 Goldstone Villas, will undergo external alterations with the installation of illuminated advertisements after Brighton and Hove City Council granted advertisement consent.

Planning committee members approved the application on August 21, clearing the way for four illuminated fascia signs and one illuminated hanging sign to be positioned around the premises.

Additional menu boards and numbering signage will also be fitted to the building’s elevations.

The venue occupies a prominent position adjacent to Hove railway station.

Documentation lodged with the council included drawings indicating the precise placement of the proposed signage and its intended visual appearance.

The establishment operates under the Greene King banner and positions itself as a venue welcoming families and dogs, providing meals and beverages.

On-site amenities encompass a beer garden, a pool table, and television displays broadcasting live sporting events.

Records indicate the premises has served patrons since 1876.

The venue received notable recognition in April 2026 when it achieved the highest position in an assessment of Greene King locations conducted by the review platform CritiqueJeu.

The evaluation encompassed 1,506 outlets listed on the chain’s website, with popularity determined through Google user ratings.

The Hove establishment achieved its standing on the strength of its 4.7-star average rating compiled from in excess of 2,000 customer assessments.

The council’s approval permits the installation and display of fascia, hanging, menu and numbering signage in accordance with submitted plans and any conditions attached to the determination.

Further details regarding the application and decision are available through Brighton and Hove City Council’s online planning register using reference BH2026/01525.

Externally illuminated signage employs dedicated light fixtures positioned to illuminate the signs from outside, rather than incorporating lighting within the sign structures themselves.

The approved signage will appear across various sections of the building’s exterior, updating the visual presentation of the premises located beside the railway station.
