Walker’s Shortbread is set to unveil its latest product range with a seaside sampling event in Brighton this Bank Holiday Monday.
The Highland-based biscuit manufacturer will operate a pop-up stand along Brighton seafront on August 31, offering complimentary tastings of the newly introduced Wee Chunkies collection.
Central to the activation will be the Scottish coastal tradition known as the Shivering Bite, a sweet treat traditionally consumed following immersion in cold open water.
The custom originates from the practice of warming up after swimming in Scotland’s frigid lochs and tidal waters.
Bryony Walker, commercial director at Walker’s Shortbread, explained that the company’s Highland heritage has fostered considerable expertise in post-swimming refreshments.
She noted that after a warm summer period, a brisk coastal Bank Holiday provides the perfect opportunity to introduce this Scottish custom to a new audience.
The promotional vehicle will be stationed near the Upside Down House attraction from 10am until 6pm, allowing visitors to sample the inaugural Wee Chunkies range.
The products are described as bite-sized all-butter biscuits, with two initial varieties: Chocolate & Caramel and Triple Chocolate.
