A photographer from Hove has achieved international acclaim for his autumn-themed photograph.

The competition, which was established 16 years ago, encourages individuals with Down’s syndrome globally to express their perspective through photography.

His submission was selected from more than 150 entries submitted worldwide.

Beyond his photographic pursuits, Padmore maintains diverse interests including gardening, culinary arts, competitive activities, and collecting Dr Who DVDs.

He also enjoys playing word games with his family and dedicates significant time to volunteering at a local charitable organization, having served there for two decades.

His photograph will compete in the Adult Category for the Judges’ Choice Award, facing competition from participants representing the United Kingdom, India, Australia, Costa Rica, Madagascar, New Zealand, Canada, the United States of America, France, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

Among those on the judging panel is Rory Langdon-Down, who is the great-great-grandson of Dr John Langdon-Down.

Shortlisted photographs in both the Adult and Child divisions will additionally be in contention for the People’s Choice Awards, with winners determined through public voting.

The announcement of results is scheduled for September.

Carol Boys OBE, the chief executive of the Down’s Syndrome Association, stated that Steven has been a longstanding supporter of the competition and consistently submits impressive images, with his talent for portraying his appreciation of nature through photography evident in this serene autumn scene.

The organisation noted that all finalists had reached a significant stage given the high standard of entries this year.
