The not-for-profit organisation BHESCo has concluded its 2026 Share Offer, having attracted £150,000 in public investment to support renewable energy developments throughout Sussex.
Since its establishment in 2013, the co-operative has successfully delivered 67 community-owned energy installations.
Kayla Ente, who established and leads BHESCo, expressed that the achievement demonstrates the core purpose of community energy.
The funds were sourced from local residents committed to environmental sustainability and directed toward tangible projects visible within the community, generating enduring advantages for families and enterprises throughout the area.
Every investor who placed trust in both the organisation and the concept of communal energy ownership received acknowledgment.
The initiative represents more than financial participation; it signifies belief in an alternative methodology for energy provision.
Individual investors provided a minimum contribution of £500, facilitating the immediate deployment of fresh clean energy infrastructure.
A 37kW integrated rooftop solar configuration has been established at Dyke Golf Club, while ten residences in Preston Park have been equipped with solar panels and battery storage units as part of a programme intended to develop into Brighton’s inaugural community microgrid.
The golf club development follows an earlier, smaller arrangement on the facility’s maintenance building implemented in 2017.
The updated installation is anticipated to generate substantial reductions in electricity expenditure over extended periods.
