The deadline for submitting applications for a Voter Authority Certificate falls today, enabling individuals lacking identification to participate in the upcoming May 7 electoral events.
Those intending to cast a ballot – whether personally or acting as a proxy for someone else – must possess an accepted form of photographic identification.
The following documents satisfy the requirements: a valid passport, a driver’s licence, a biometric immigration document such as an eVisa, an identity card featuring the Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram commonly known as a PASS card, a Blue Badge, as well as bus passes issued to seniors or individuals with disabilities.
These forms of identification remain valid whether they are current or have expired, provided the photograph still clearly resembles the applicant.
However, individuals who do not possess any of these documents may apply for a complimentary Voter Authority Certificate up until 5pm on Tuesday, April 28.
Applications can be submitted through the GOV.UK website.
