A racket sport facility has undergone a name change as part of plans to emerge as a leading operator in the rapidly expanding game.

The venue, situated at Worthing RFC in West Sussex, has been renamed Atmos Padel and revealed intentions to grow throughout Britain.

It presently operates four outdoor courts and forms part of an enterprise aspiring to establish itself as a prominent national name in the sport.

Chief executive Ben Lacey stated that the previous Padel Project identity served the business well during its launch period, enabling the establishment of clubs and cultivation of communities.

He noted that padel can no longer be described as a developing sport, and the company can no longer be categorised as a startup venture.

Lacey observed the impressive expansion witnessed in recent years and highlighted a significant deficit of courts nationwide.

He explained that through Atmos Padel, the goal is to develop a brand with national recognition capable of becoming one of the most respected operators in British padel.

The organisation prioritises constructing outdoor venues in parkland environments with landscaping rather than repurposing warehouse or factory buildings.

The business has support from Arbor Ventures and is guided by a refreshed leadership group, with Adam Holman overseeing court operations, Emma Gibson managing financial and operational matters, and Tom O’Brien leading promotional activities.

Newly appointed property director Malcolm Kilpatrick is responsible for locating sites throughout the country for new developments.

The inaugural venue under the fresh identity, Atmos Padel Chesterfield, will feature four additional courts following a £350,000 investment.

Kilpatrick noted that a common assumption exists that padel appeals exclusively to competitive young men, yet actual usage demonstrates courts are regularly occupied by individuals across all age groups and backgrounds.

He attributed the sport’s appeal to its accessibility, explaining that participants need not possess exceptional fitness or athletic ability, describing the activity as enjoyable, approachable and compelling.

He added that Atmos Padel offers diverse programming including morning sessions for women combining social coffee time with play, gatherings for older adults, and youth development schemes to ensure everyone can participate.

The company is currently searching for land to rent for additional venue locations, managing the planning process, construction and day-to-day running in return for rental payments.
