A crowdfunding initiative has hit its £100,000 milestone.

A collective of mothers alongside their teenage sons launched the campaign to assist their friend who sustained a severe spinal injury last year.

Harry Clapham, a resident of Hove, received the injury during break time at his school mere weeks prior to his fourteenth birthday, which resulted in him losing the ability to walk and requiring specialised equipment along with extensive rehabilitation sessions.

The fundraising collective, going by the name Harry’s Village, was established by mothers with the aim of gathering the necessary funds for his rehabilitation.

Over the course of the past two years, the group has staged musical performances, confectionery stalls, outdoor sales events and various supported initiatives.

Their most recent gathering, titled Harry’s Fashion and Fizz, generated £15,000 and enabled the overall total to reach the £100,000 objective.

The pre-owned garment sale, together with an auction and prize draw, took place at the British Engineerium venue in Hove and incorporated a runway display.

Contributions remain possible via Harry’s JustGiving portal located at justgiving.com/crowdfunding/harryclapham.

Sam Clapham, Harry’s elder sibling, delivered remarks expressing gratitude to the local community on the evening.

He stated that their family feels deeply thankful for everything Harry’s Village has contributed towards Harry’s support, and it has been wonderful to witness numerous close companions participating in the fundraising activities. It holds significant meaning for the entire family.

The young people took an active part throughout the occasion, assisting with arrangements and managing operations such as the prize draw and coordination tasks.

Emma Church, a principal coordinator, mentioned that the collective intends to keep gathering funds to address Harry’s continuing requirements.
