A person from Sussex has been charged after claims that a van was driven into the doorway of a drone production plant in Leicestershire.

Megan Kennard, aged 25 and residing in Fircroft Avenue in Lancing, is among six people facing accusations of theft and property destruction after an incident at premises on Meridian Way in Braunstone at approximately 3am on Friday, Leicestershire Police reported.

The business trades under the name UAV Tactical Systems and manufactures drones.

The British branch of the Israeli defence firm Elbit Systems announced in January that it had assumed full ownership of UAV Tactical Systems, which produces unmanned aerial systems commonly known as drones.

According to Elbit Systems’ website, for almost 20 years UTACS has delivered numerous advanced tactical unmanned aerial systems to the British Army and to overseas clients, including the United Nations and Nato member countries.

Footage circulating online appears to depict an individual destroying parts of a ceiling drenched in red paint.

Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands is leading the investigation with support from Leicestershire Police.

All six defendants are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
