Published on

A house in a row of terraced properties suffered damage after fire spread from an outdoor area into the building.

Fire crews attended the mid-terrace residence on Kidborough Road in Crawley during the afternoon.

Authorities advised people to avoid the area and told local householders to keep windows and doors shut.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the emergency was reported at 3.14pm on Friday 24 April concerning a fire at a property on Kidborough Road in Crawley.

Joint Fire Control sent five fire engines along with an aerial ladder platform to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in the rear garden of a mid-terrace property that had spread to the back section of the building and was moving toward the roof.

The crew tackled the blaze using two hose reel nozzles and one heavy duty jet.

No casualties were reported, and the incident is believed to have been accidental.
