A woman has been arrested by officers following a stabbing in Brighton’s town centre.

Sussex Police announced that a Brighton resident, aged 36, was held this morning on suspicion of causing wounds with intent, after the attack occurred earlier.

A 28-year-old man suffered severe injuries and was rushed to hospital for medical care.

Emergency responders were sent out at around 10.30am, with the street sealed off shortly after they got there.

Paramedics and armed officers both attended the scene.

By 1pm today (April 25), the exclusion area continues to operate.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said that on Saturday (25 April) at approximately 10.30am, police got a report about a man being stabbed on George Street in Brighton.

A 28-year-old man was hospitalised with severe injuries.

Officers went to the location, where a 36-year-old local woman was taken into custody on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Local residents should anticipate a heightened police presence in the vicinity while investigations proceed.

Sussex Police are also urging anyone with relevant information to make contact.

The spokesperson continued: There is currently an increased police presence in the area while further work takes place to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
