A classic bus event will shut down a town’s main shopping street this weekend.
East Grinstead’s yearly Bus Running Day makes its comeback this Sunday on April 26, featuring over 25 historic buses providing complimentary rides.
The vehicles will operate between 10am and 4.30pm on services departing from the High Street, which will be blocked to regular traffic for the entire day.
Multiple destinations will be accessible throughout the event, with complete route and schedule information found in a commemorative booklet offered for purchase at the venue.
The buses will travel along regular schedules across many of the former routes that once served East Grinstead.
East Grinstead Town Council noted the vehicles would cover the typical range of locations, which in previous years encompassed Turners Hill, Crawley Down, Lingfield, Godstone, Oxted and Edenbridge.
Shorter trips are ideal for young children while longer excursions are presented as a chance to wind through country lanes and experience nostalgic travel, with numerous routes also concluding at rural pubs.
