A27 commuters facing significant disruption and travel delays

Published on

Commuters are experiencing substantial queues on the A27 Brighton Road heading eastbound through Falmer this morning. Drivers are facing hold-ups of roughly ten minutes, with vehicles travelling at approximately ten miles per hour on average.

The volume of cars on the eastbound A27 Brighton Road has increased beyond typical levels near the B2123 The Drove junction at Falmer and Rottingdean as a result of roadworks in the vicinity.

The AA has indicated that although the waiting times have shortened somewhat, congestion remains above what is normally observed in the area.

A sole lane is inaccessible due to maintenance on the eastbound A27 between the B2123 The Drove junction at Falmer and Rottingdean and the A277 Brighton Road at the Ashcombe Roundabout.

The lane restrictions are in place to enable the construction of a drive-through outlet for the bakery chain Greggs at a nearby fuel station.
