Railway trespassing causing train delays
Good evening and thank you for following our live updates.
Services on the Brighton to Hove line are facing delays after reports of people on the railway line, Southern has confirmed.
Expected to continue until 8.30pm
The company expects the disruption to persist until 8.30pm this evening.
What happened?
A Southern representative explained that reports have been received of an unauthorized presence on the tracks near Hove. The representative added that whenever someone is reported on the railway, safety protocols require trains in the vicinity to reduce speed or halt completely. Emergency services and Network Rail work together to remove the individual from the tracks. The representative emphasized that being on the railway poses significant danger. Services operate around the clock, and trains may not be visible or audible until they are very close. Many sections also include electrified rails, steep embankments, and additional hazards. Additionally, this activity is against the law and can result in severe consequences for those who obstruct the railway.
